VXF FIRM FOR “DUNE” LAYS OFF DOZENS OF WORKERS IN LONDON HQ

Award winning VFX firm that has worked on projects like “Oppenheimer”, “Dune” and “The Last Of Us” has started a redundancy consultation process that will lead to around 70 exiting its Central London base. DNEG’s UK staff has around 900 staff members, these layoffs will compromise roughly 7.5% of the workforce.

The layoffs will include but are not limited to departments such as rigging, lighting and tech.

While the layoffs are happening during the recent Hollywood strikes, the layoffs are actually triggered by the global macroeconomic slump and not by the strikes.

Philippa Childs, who runs the UK broadcasting union “Bectu” (“Broadcasting, Entertainment, Communications and Theatre Union”), stated that her organization is “doing everything we can to support our members who are affected by the redundancies or loss of work, and will continue to monitor developments closely.”
